The Best of W7 Cosmetics

W7 is a super affordable brand, with most products available in B&M stores, The Range, eBay and Amazon. I’ve always steered relatively clear of W7, thinking you get what you pay for and a lot of the items are broken or have all been used as testers! However, I found an actual stand of W7 in The Range in Glasgow and bought a few products that were fab, so I bought a few more on eBay and I’ve been really impressed with them for the price! The prices fluctuate quite a lot dependent on where you are buying them from so I’ve just listed an average price for each item as they are listed for on eBay.

Blazin’ Eyeshadow Palette - £5.99
I have swatched a few W7 eyeshadow palettes in B&M and I have to say, they are all terrible! However, I had heard good things about the Blazin’ Eyeshadow palette and the On The Rocks palette so I thought they were worth picking up. So the On The Rocks palette is a close shade match and supposed show for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette (which retails for £43!) but so far I’ve not been able to find the On The Rocks palette in stock anywhere. The Blazin’ palette is a close shade match and supposed dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette (which retails for £39.50). I’ve not tried the Urban Decay palette so I can’t comment on how close they are in comparison, however, I am completely shocked by the quality of this palette. All of the shadows are consistently pigmented, blendable and have very little fall out. For £5.99 I think this is a great eyeshadow palette!

Matte Me Blush (Going Out) £2.99
This blusher is one of the first products I tried from W7 when I saw it in The Range. They had a few different shades and they swatched nicely in the store. This blusher is quite pigmented, so for pale skin especially, I would suggest using a light hand or a stippling brush and you don’t need to use much at all. It feels smooth to touch and applies nicely to the skin - it isn’t patchy or powdery and it blends nicely. The packaging is sturdy and is a sleek, matte black compact. You also get a lot of product (8g) as the compact is quite big so I feel like it would take a long time to use up.

Glowcomotion Highlighter - £2.75
I’m amazed that I haven’t heard much about this highlighter as it is such amazing quality. This highlighter is a dupe for the Mary Loumaniser (from The Balm) highlighter, in my opinion. The packaging is sturdy and comes with a mirror. The shade of this highlighter is a champagne colour, which is similar to the Mary Loumaniser and even the formula is similar. It is a creamy highlighter which gives a beautiful, natural-ish glow to the skin and it looks lovely on pale complexions. This highlighter does not emphasise any texture on my skin and gives a slightly glittery, sheen without chunky glitter particles. On my skin, this highlighter lasts for most of the day and for the price, you can’t go wrong! You get 8.5g of product in the compact which is a lot for a highlighter!

Mega Matte Lips Liquid Lipstick (Two Bob) - £2.45
This liquid lipstick reminds me a lot of the NYX Matte Lip Creams as it has similar packaging and a similar moussey formula - even the scent is similar. It has a slight sweet, vanilla scent but it is not overpowering like some liquid lipsticks. This is not a liquid lipstick that is going to last all day or stay on through eating and drinking but if you wear a lip liner underneath, the colour will last a lot longer. It doesn’t dry out your lips and feels very comfortable to wear, and it does dry down to a nice matte finish whilst still feeling moisturising. It comes with a doe-foot applicator and there are lots of different shades to choose from - specifically there are a lot of nude shades.

Line to Five Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (Black) £1.84
If you know me or have read my blog posts before, you’ll know I’m a big fan of felt tip liquid eyeliners and prefer them to the traditional liquid liners and gel liners. For £1.84, I didn’t expect much from this eyeliner but it’s amazing quality for the price. This eyeliner is very black, glides on smoothly and doesn’t dry out after 5 seconds (like some eyeliners I’ve tried!). It dries down to a matte finish quickly, so you don’t end up with black smudges as soon as you look up and it stays in place all day! It didn’t smudge and it didn’t flake off like some liquid eyeliners do. The only thing that let this eyeliner down is that the felt tip is quite thick and doesn’t have a fine point, which is not ideal for creating a sharp wing and I do prefer finer tips. All in all, you can’t go wrong for the price so if you see this eyeliner, it’s definitely worth picking up!

Selfie Translucent Pressed Powder - £2.99
Translucent powders are a must in my make up bag because I use them every day to set my under eye concealer and stop my mascara from smudging under my eyes. I also use it to dust over the top of my powder to stop my combination skin making me look like an oily mess by the end of the day. Translucent powders have not been widely available in drugstores (like Boots and Superdrug) until recently and I’m always on the hunt for new powders to try. Overall, I am a fan of this one. It’s an odd powder, because it has a blue tint in the pan and when you apply it to your face, it does have a blue tint but once it has settled or you brush off the excess, the blue tint disappears. I actually don’t mind the tint because it looks fine on pale skin like mine! The powder is smooth and finely milled and doesn’t leave a white cast or leave my concealer looking cakey. The packaging is nice and sturdy so I feel like it would be good for travelling with. This powder does exactly what I want it to and stops my skin from getting oily throughout the day and keeps my under eyes looking like I’ve just applied my make up. You do only get 6g of product in the compact which I think is strange compared to the blusher and highlighter’s weight but it’s still a good buy for £2.99.

Lip Twister Lip Liner (Very Nude) £1.89
These lip liners are great for the price. They are twist liners so you don’t need to faf about with a sharpener and the formula is pigmented and creamy. There is a strong chemical scent to these that smells a bit like crayons, but if you can get past that when applying, the scent goes after a few seconds. The colour lasts a long time and doesn’t smudge easily. I twisted this all the way up to see how much product is in this and you do get a lot of product so I feel like this lip liner will last a long time. I’m definitely going to be investing in some more shades of this!
