What Does £100 Worth of Make-Up Look Like?

Do you ever go crazy on a shopping spree and spend a fortune on make up, then look at it and think "that's not a lot of stuff for the amount of money I spent"? This has happened to me so many times. I know that usually, with drugstore make up specifically, there are usually offers on for 3 for 2 or Buy One Get One Half Price, which might save you a bit of money, or you end up buying something you don't really need or want just to get the deal. Anyway, this led me to wonder, what does £100 worth of make up look like?

So if you are a fan of high end make up, you will know that you really don't get a lot for £100. With some high end brands like Marc Jacobs, a eye shadow palette alone can set you back £76.00. If you aren't obsessed with make-up, this might seem ridiculous to you! But often, there is no drugstore equivalent that even comes close to the high end version - like the Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation. You get 4 items here for exactly £100 and these can be found in John Lewis and / or Debenhams.

Marc Jacobs Remarcable Full Cover Foundation Concentrate 22ml - £37.00
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water 116ml - £20.00
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder 10g - £24.50
Illamasqua Brow Gel 5ml - £18.50

= £100

So let's see what you can get for £100 worth of average priced drugstore make up. This is what most people's make up collection is predominately made up of. There are 12 items here which total £99.91 (I tried really hard to get it to £100!) and all of these items can be found in Boots stores or online in case you were interested.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Oily/Combination Skin 30ml - £12.99
Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick - £6.99
Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher 2.5g - £7.99
Sleek iDivine Eyeshadow Palette - £8.99
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer - £7.99
Rimmel Match Perfection Fix & Perfect Primer 30ml - £6.99
NYX Matte Body Bronzer 9.5g - £7.00

Sleek Solstice Highlighter Palette - £9.99
No7 Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil - £7.50
NYX Professional Eye Shadow Base 7g - £5.50

= £99.91

And this one took the longest to work out! This just shows how much make up you can purchase for £100 if you shop in the right places or try affordable brands. This is £100 worth of very affordable make up (all items £5 or less). There are 34 individual items here which total £99.84 (sorry, don't think you can buy any make up for 16p! (if only...) These items are available in Superdrug, Boots, Wilko or on eBay (depending on different brands).

So the moral of this story! If you are wanting to expand your make up collection, my suggestion would be to incorporate a mixture of all 3 of these groups. Some more affordable make up for everyday use and some more expensive make up (if you can) and save that for special occasions or nights out.
